What Content Could You Watch on CNN+?
CNN+ featured a slate of shows, movies, and documentaries. It also included on-demand access to a lot of CNN’s non-news content, including shows like Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, and United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell. In addition to on-demand shows, movies, and documentaries, you could watch live programming on CNN+. Unlike other streaming services with only pre-produced, on-demand content, CNN+ featured about eight to 12 hours of live programming each day. This live content was unique to the CNN+ service, and it’s not broadcast on the CNN cable channel.
How Was CNN+ Different From CNN?
While CNN+ was a streaming service from CNN and featured similar content, the streaming service and cable channel are totally separate. CNN’s regular live news programming is not available on CNN+, as CNN+ has its own live programming instead. The live programming on CNN+ focused more on deep-dives of timely subjects than repeating the same live news already on CNN
What Happened to CNN+?
CNN+ launched on March 29, 2022. However, it shut down a month later, on April 30, 2022. The official reason for its end was that owner Warner Bros. Discovery ultimately wants to offer a single streaming service with all of its content on it. A lot of the CNN+ original content relocated to a “CNN Originals” hub on Discovery+ in August 2022. This section includes many docuseries, Headline News originals, and CNN Films offerings.
