The South Korean technology giant has begun rolling out its November security update patch to a number of devices throughout the world, according to the monthly Samsung Security Maintenance Release (SMR) report. This recent security update is rather large, at 225MB, and addresses a number of ongoing concerns, fixing over a dozen “common” vulnerabilities, three “critical” vulnerabilities, and a whopping 20 “high-risk” vulnerabilities. Some of these fixes were instituted by Google to support the Android operating system, while others were issued by Samsung to support their beefy One UI custom interface. Details are scant regarding what security issues were plugged up by the patch, but the company stated these fixes were created “in order to improve our customer’s confidence on security of Samsung Mobile devices.” The security update is appearing on select Samsung handsets, including the company’s flagship line of Galaxy S series smartphones and many of the Galaxy Note smartphones. The same goes for the Galaxy A series and, of course, the firm’s latest line of flip phones, the Galaxy Z Flip series. The update is appearing in all major regions throughout the world, but certain types of phones in certain areas may not yet be eligible. For instance, updates for Galaxy Z Flip phones are tied to the Middle East, North Africa, Central and East Asia, and Eastern Europe, according to 9to5Google. Also, phones running the beta version of the soon-to-be-released Samsung One UI 4 are not yet eligible for the patch.
