According to The Verge, the RTX 3080 Ti is a marked improvement over the RTX 3080 in every way aside from the price, which is about $500 more than the older model. However, the RTX 3080 Ti is also about $300 less than the RTX 3090, which is a higher performance card, though the biggest difference is the RTX 3090’s additional 12GB of VRAM. There is a fair bit of speculation about whether or not Nvidia will be able to meet its June 3 release target, however. The global chip shortage has been making it difficult to find all manner of electronics, from GPUs to video game consoles, and it doesn’t seem like it will be over anytime soon. “Yeah available to look at online on a sold-out page, not to actually buy,” said Twitter user @Leary73_, “They can’t support their current lines literally no point in trying to get this as it will be sold out in less than a second.” “Feels like just yesterday we had the 3070-90 launch. Ti’s are already here! How time flies,” tweeted Twitter user @shrivaasms, with a more positive outlook on the announcement. Those interested in checking out the RTX 3080 Ti can head over to Nvidia’s website to see if their system is compatible with the new GPU and ask to be notified once it’s available for purchase.
